Emerson/Fuentes Scholarship for Oregon Latinos

This is the first scholarship at LBCC to help Latino students achieve their dreams in higher education. This scholarship addresses the college’s mission statement to “engage in an education that enables all of us to participate in, contribute to, and benefit from the cultural richness and economic vitality of our communities” and supports our core values of “opportunity” and “inclusiveness.”

Applicants must be Oregon residents in any major who are seeking any degree or certificate.
Financial need will be determined by the Student Budget Sheet in the application (FAFSA not required.)
Applicants must identify themselves as Latino/Hispanic on the scholarship application.

The recipient must submit a thank you letter and attend the annual Scholarship Reception.

Recipient must show financial need
Must be Oregon Resident
Requires a minimum GPA of 2.00 GPA
Preference given to underrepresented groups
Student’s year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
Applicant must self identify as Latino/Hispanic on the scholarship application.
Scholarships can be used for: Tuition/fees, books, childcare and living expenses
Award Amount: $1,100.00
Number of Awards available: 1
Apply during Fall Term
Enrollment requirement per term: 1/2 Time 6 – 8 credit hrs.
Term(s) award to be paid: Winter, Spring
