Ed and Mary Watson Scholarship

Dr. Ed Watson retired June 2006 as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at LBCC after a more than 36-year career in education. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health and exercise science from the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. in education from Oregon State University. Dr. Watson has been an instrumental part of LBCC since 1993. He started as dean of the Liberal Arts and Human Performance/Athletics Division before moving into his last position as vice-president position in 1996 and retired in June 2007. Dr. Watson spent several years in Europe as a teacher and administrator for U.S. Department of Defense schools. He also was a teacher and coach in Oregon, including two years at South Albany High School.”

Mary Watson also shares a lifelong commitment to education, spending many years in the Silverton School District as an elementary school librarian.

This scholarship supports students seeking a degree/certificate in Health and PE (includes personal health or exercise health; not healthcare/nursing/dental/diagnostic imaging/polysonography), Fine and Applied Arts (including digital imaging and graphic design), Music or is a member of an LBCC Athletic Team.

Scholarship recipient is required to submit a thank-you letter to the Foundation Office and to attend the annual Foundation Scholarship Reception.
