Daniel T. Bain "Embrace Life" Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and support students who have overcome substance abuse and/or mental health barriers. Preference will be given to an applicant either graduating from high school this spring and planning to attend LBCC fall term, or to an enrolled first or second year LBCC student working toward a certificate or associate degree. Although financial need is not required, an explanation of why applicant needs financial assistance needs to be included on the application
Minimum GPA of 2.00 is required to maintain the award.
NOTE: Students in an extended high school program are not eligible.
Recipients will be selected based on the following:
Academic Subject Area: Any subject area
May be an international student
May be a dual-enrollment student
Funds may be used for dual enrollment expenses
Available to High School Seniors (restrictions may apply).
Student’s year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
Applicant must provide a written statement describing the substance abuse or depression barrier which he/she has struggled with and received treatment for. Explain how you now plan to “Embrace Life.” (What did you learn in treatment?) Documentation to include a letter from a counselor, doctor, or treatment facility to confirm successful completion of a treatment plan/program must be included in the application. All documentation will be confidential and only viewed by the screening committee. Include documentation with your application by answering the questions and uploading your documents to your application.
Scholarships can be used for: Tuition/fees, books, childcare, living expenses and/or special needs.

Enrollment requirement per term: 12 or more credit hours
