Edna Galster Scholarship Endowment

The Edna Galster Scholarship Endowment will provide funds for scholarships to students in any declared major. Edna Mae Galster, 94, of Lebanon, died on May 20, 2010. She was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Foster, the daughter of William and Jennie (Godwin) Juhnke. She grew up in Foster and attended school in Sweet Home. She married Ronald Galster in 1934.

Edna worked as a seamstress in her home for many years. When she was 50 she returned to college and received a certified nurse’s assistant certification from LBCC. She worked at the Lebanon Community Hospital from 1967 until retiring at the age of 75 in 1990.

Her husband Ronald died in 1969 and son Leland in 1996. An infant son, Roger; sisters Grace Dunaway, Hazel Swank Fales and Myrtle Spencer; and brother Lester Juhnke also preceded her in death.

Student may be enrolled in any LBCC major program seeking a certificate or degree.
Recipients will be selected based on the following:
Recipient must show financial need
May be a dual-enrollment student
Student’s year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
GPA 2.75 for transfer students GPA 2.50 for career/technical students Must be enrolled at LBCC for a minimum of half total credits if in the LBCC/OSU degree partnership program (OSU 100 and 200 level courses qualify.)
Scholarships can be used for: tuition/fees, books, childcare and living expenses
Award Amount: $1,000.00
Number of Awards available: 16
Apply during Fall Term
Enrollment requirement per term: minimum 12 credits
Term(s) award to be paid: Winter
Student must submit a thank you letter and attend the annual Scholarship Reception
