Dr. Sharon McGavick Scholarship

In 1968 Dr. Sharon McGavick was a single mother trying to support two children. She enrolled at Linn-Benton Community College, taking classes in a local church while the college built its new facilities. One day a professor pulled her aside and talked to her about her goals. That conversation helped shape the rest of Sharon’s life leading her to a distinguished career that included being the president of Clover Park Technical College and Lake Washington Technical Institute.

Because someone saw something in her and took the time to help, Sharon wants to give other LBCC students the same kind of push to help them along their path.

This fund shall support students at Linn-Benton Community College who are on a career path through completion of a community college beginning. Award may be used for education-related expenses such as tuition, fees & books and living expenses.
