Joy of Learning Scholarship
The donors who established this scholarship, Mike and Donna, have both been educators and have enjoyed learning their entire lives. They went to public universities when the costs were minimal. Now educational costs often prevent capable students from going to college. After enjoying successful careers, they are giving back with this scholarship to help others go to college and achieve their own career goals.
Recipients will be selected based on the following:
Any academic study area leading to a career.
Must show financial need and potential.
Preference given to applicants with the greatest need and highest potential.
Consideration will be given to marginalized applicants who have experienced discrimination.
May be a dual-enrollment student.
Required GPA: 3.0 high school or 2.75 Community college.
Must be enrolled for 10 or more credit hours.
Scholarships can be used for: tuition/fees, books, childcare, living expenses and/or special needs
Award Amount: $6000, $2000 each quarter.
Renewable for 2nd year if acceptable progress made in first year.
Number of Awards available: 10
Supplemental Questions
Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate two or more of the following with written or oral answers to these supplemental questions:
1) Potential for success.
2) Motivation to complete the LBCC (or OSU) program and start a chosen career.
3) Critical thinking skills needed to solve educational, career and personal problems.
4) Knowledge and evaluation of career options.
5) Financial knowledge and fiscal responsibility.
